Moroccanoil’s New Dreamy Dry Shampoo

I rarely leave home without an arsenal of beautifying products to bail me out in emergency situations – a last minute date, emotional breakdown, an interview, bumping into the ex-boyfriend, etc. You know the drill. This kit generally includes a hoard of makeup, a hairbrush – to fluff up flat roots, a hairspray – to keep fluffed up roots in check, a perfume (sometimes 3) and always a dry shampoo, because nothing prolongs a bouncy blow-dry like a good spritz of the powdery stuff.

Now, if you aren’t as familiar with dry shampoos as myself, then here’s a quick summary. A powdery, chalk-like formulation that works without water to absorb oil from the roots, refresh day-old hair, whilst also boosting volume. Sounds like a dream combo right? There are drawbacks of the dry stuff however.

Generally scented like my great-grandmother’s knicker drawer, the powdery product can be a huge hassle for darker hair and if you spray too much, expect your boyfriend to look at you in horror when his fingers get stuck running them through your hair. Dry shampoo can be a godsend, but too many brands just don’t seem to get the formula quite right.

Moroccanoil however, has come up top trumps with an A+ and gold star for their latest launch. You probably know the brand for their iconic Argan hair oil (it’s AH-MAZE-ING) but their two new dry shampoos are swiftly superseding the oil’s rankings.

Why do I LOVE it?

The scent had me at first spritz (good enough to hold off on perfume) and the transparent finish comes in two versions to flatter both light and darker hair hues. For brunettes/black hair, the shampoo is formulated with ultra-fine rice starch, so you can swerve that dusty halo effect, whilst for lighter shades, is infused with a soft violet undertone to mute out any brassiness around the root area. Those greasy roots from day two of no washing are instantly soaked up and squeaky clean again too.

It also contains UV filters to protect your strands from colour fade whilst the super light formula means the boyfriend won’t have sticky issues. Oh and you know how guys love slightly messed up, sexy hair? Well spray this through your mid-lengths post styling and he’ll also be admiring your ‘naturally’ tousled tong work.

Now if all that hasn’t convinced you to sprint for the salon and buy this immediately, then stay tuned for my ‘April Favourites’ coming to YouTube very soon for a live demonstration of the fancy formula.
